71 Years Later.........

As some of the regulars may know I like to take old aerial photographs and try to reproduce them.   This is a shot of the local park and how it was 71 years ago when house boats were moored up,  this water way has now become reclaimed land.

Taken with the Mini 2.

Great approach to history, interesting to see the changes! And I'm thinking about how (relatively) easy it is nowadays to take such a photograph; compare this to the technical effort a photographer in the 1950s had to take when helicopters were not widely present. You had to snap your photos out of an airplane's window and make sure to avoid camera shake (with far lower film sensitivity).

Cheers TaBarang.  In this case I’m pretty sure it was originally taken from the church tower, but in other ones I’ve done they definitely had to use planes to get the original shot.

Cheers Mr B,   initially I assumed it was longer ago,  it was only when I went back to get the date of the photo when I realised.   I found another photo taken I believe from the same spot but in the other direction.

There are a few round here that I must get to one of these days. Another item on the "to do" list.

You can also now set combinations up for that the scroll wheel,  so you can set C1 + wheel to adjust exposure for example.

Everything went like clockwork. From unboxing to full charge on the RC and drone took about 75 minutes.
I let things cool for a while (though no heat detected) and then began the registration process and firmware update. The whole process took less than 30 minutes, and although the drone did get warm (not hot) wafting cool air through it with a manual fan did the job just great.  Ready to Rock,n,Roll

As its foggy you have an excuse than,   its glorious again here.  My only complaint is the light is so harsh for nice photos.

I did - got to 80ms before it broke through.  Only just got back so haven't reviewed the footage yet.
One thing - when it came back down the sensors must have fogged up, as it couldn't detect the ground for landing and did a gentle bounce - which I caught with some up stick, then brought it gently down to land (tarmac surface, no harm done.)

How do you like the lack of "legs" on the Mini 3 Pro?  I'm afraid the props are going to get nicked easier than on the Mini 2 for sure.  Because it sits so low I'll be hand launching and recovering.  Which is my norm as I live on a boat.

I can't hand launch or catch.  It is low to the ground and I was a little concerned - particularly if it should be a windy day.  I think a landing mat is going to be De Rigueur.

Living on a boat I really had no choice but to learn.  I used a whole battery on my old Mavic Air 2 practicing this method until I got it down.  I do keep my hand palm up and at least just above head level high in case of a last minute gust of wind...don't want to lose an eye from the props if I was trying to catch it shoulder or head high.  Had a few scares during my self training period when I tried to reach up and grab it instead of letting it just keep coming down and land in my flat palm.  Now it just comes natural.  I do have a landing pad but can't use it unless ashore.  Once out on a weekend trip I did use my hard case for taking off but hand landed.
