I tried active track yesterday but I think I did not do it right as the drone just hovered where it was nut the camera followed me. Most odd

Never tried that on any of my drones before so suspect I did not know what I was doing

Sounds like you might have picked the Spotlight function of Active Track - the drone stays still, but follows you as you move.

Pick one of the other options,

(Though I am one of those that sees Active track as a silly gimmick)

May well be the reason. As I said I am rather with you and see it as a bit of a Gimic

My guess is you missed the last step - hit the GO button. At least I did overlook that initially.

1. Mark the object
2. Activate Active Track
3. The bottom button left changes to GO. Without that it hovers, with GO it flies behind you.

Now that could indeed have been the issue

I've never tried that either. I'm a bit reluctant to experiment just yet.

Spotlight is very good, you can fly the drone around in Spotlight and the camera will always be pointing at you if your the one highlighted.

Some appear to be gimmicky, others make it easy to capture what ever floats your boat.

There just part of the tool kit.

Exactly, gimmicky for someone, good for someone else.

It is not easy to ride your bike and fly the drone aimed at yourself at the same time
