I have been reading the manual (amazing what you pick up!)
I see if RTH is initiated within 5m the drone will just land. That's a good change as used to be 20m on the Mini 1.

I know you wouldn't normally purposely activate a RTH 5m away anyway but if you had an emergency or something happened to your connection your drone isn't going to land in the lake or over the edge of a mountain top. A lot easier to have 5m of reasonable landing space around you rather 20m so a postive change I think.

Edit: Actually it gets better if you have a disconnection it appears as long as you have set your action to RTH under a Signal Loss the drone will return to the home point and the 5m thing doesn't apply at all, that only kicks in if you manually instigate a RTH. Sounds like DJI have listened there to past concerns. Do I have that right?

Sorry!

I was running Dronelink once on my Mini 1 and it was about 10m away above my high pitched roof and it had a disconnect and just started landing luckily I managed to reboot the controller in time to stop it. Thought the same applied with the Mini 3 but looks like DJI have thankfully changed completely so if signal loss set to RTH it will come all the way back to Home Point which is great news! :-)

One way to know for sure, set the home point, fly 4m away and then switch the controller off. All of course in a safe  place and over land.

I had not a clue about this thanks for sharing. It’s truly amazing what you can find when you actually read the instruction manual.
