In the hazy pre-dawn light, the sun still low behind the hills and a thin mist hanging here and there, the Mavic2Z at full zoom could just pick out the steep cutting known as William Clough, which leads up to join the Pennine Way.  A fair bit of tweaking in editing was needed to get anything like a decent view, from the blurry video footage. In wet weather torrents of run-off cascade down the slopes, making it a risky route.

Yes the video was quite poor so I had to play about with brightness, contrast, colour hue and saturation to get something halfway decent.

That’s really cool, have you ever gone hiking on either trail?

That’s really cool, have you ever gone hiking on either trail?

Some parts of both
The Pennine Way begins just east of here and covers almost 270 miles northward along the Pennine Hills- considered the backbone of England.
The Transpennine Trail crosses the country for 215 miles east to west ( or west to east )
The two trails intersect at this point.

Ok cool, but 270 miles wow, I wonder how long it would take someone to hike that in its entirety?

There have been documentaries on the TV by various celebrities.
Many serious hikers set out to do the full hike in a fortnight's holiday.
At my limit of 10 miles a day I reckon it would take me well over a month as I'd have to take rest days as well.
Too much for me at my age

Sadly no such thing,   they can only control where you take off from,   they don't control the airspace.

Well in that respect the flight was OK then, as I took off from a public road.

They made the same fuss about stone hedge,  but Ian in London contacted the CAA and got them in writing to confirm that he could do exactly that, take off from public land and overfly stone hedge.

Great landscape! I wonder: does the Pennine Way lead through the William Clough, along oder just past the Clough? In times of rain the lower parts must get severely flooded.

No, the clough is one of the routes up to join the Pennine way, which runs northwards up England. The water runoff collects into the Kinder Reservoir, in the foothills.

Thanks for the additional information! I did some short (1 day) hikes in the Dartmoor National Park a couple of years back. (Drones were not invented yet, or at least not as popular as nowadays.)
The Pennine Way sounds/looks interesting as well, I'll suggest that to my family - and take my drone along when I can finally lay my hands on it.

I am sure about the magnificent scenery! But I will have to split the 400kms into manageable distances, maybe over several years.
Such a big world, so many interesting places to see!

Nice that you have the knowledge to be able to do that.  I'm still a rookie when it comes to video editing.  I tried to watch some videos on it but get lost and bored too easily.

Grandson just laughs at my lack of editing skills.  When my other daughter gets back off her vacation I'll have to get her to come over and give me some lessons.  She used to do wedding photos and videos for a large photograph company so I know she has the skills.  Hopefully, she has the patience to teach me.

Kids nowadays pick up tech stuff so easily.

I recently replaced an older TV with a new smart TV.  My grandson had it unboxed, mounted, set-up and configured to my satellite dish while I was still trying to read all about the remote control.
