Photographing and droning in Maylands and the most impressive building in the area is Dôme cafe - Peninsula Hotel, opposite the Maylands train station.
The heritage-listed (former) Edwardian-style hotel was built in 1906 by Friederich Liebe (who also worked on His Majesty's Theater) and owned by him until he died in 1950.
It was almost demolished in the 1973, when Swan Brewery, the current owner built a tavern in the adjacent site to cater for modern drinking needs (I've marked both buildings in one of the shots).
But fortunately it was instead heritage-listed in 1974 and used as a space for several community groups.
Later it became a Dôme cafe as well as their corporate headquarters. Then in 2013,
Dôme won an award for the restoration in the Western Australian Heritage Awards
