I am so happy! Android FlyApp 1.6.8 has got a new option!

Finally DJI updated the radar/attitude indicator ; works now as in the Go4 app.

See the video.

Works only perfect if both compasses are good calibrated.

As you can see in the video ; my mobile device compass is not 100% oke....few degrees off to the actual values.
But even than this new radar option is so great to use !!

I agree. A definite improvement.

Agreed a nice little feature, I'm chuffed the AE Lock indicator is back as well.

I like the bigger design,  but the water style level is almost impossible to see in bright sunshine compared to the two lines like before.

yes, but i am not using the attitude indicator.....as long as i fly in normal wind conditions my drones can handle that within the pitch and roll angles limitations.

Do i know the wind direction, yes i do have a sensitive nose....   ;-)

100% better than before. It was the main thing I missed about the DJI Fly app.

My issue is when I lose sight of my drone (look away and look back) then it's helpful to be able to orientate yourself to pick it up again. The small triangle was impossible to see.

yes, so true!!

Just rotate the RC such that the center icon turns green!
Plus the N-E-S-W helps too, knowing the time of the day and with some sun .....

Only about 20 more things to fix.

How can you enjoy this new indicator? It's total egg. You can't see anything in the sun, there's no gimbal position indicator. A very bad change. The old indicator gave more information. He was really useful and the liquid level flies as he pleases. Big gówno!

Mine are:
1. WAYPOINTS (Really, DJI, waypoints are a must)
2. Working Map, the map doesn't follow the drone when it is minimized in the corner!
3. Less bugs in general with the app
4. Course Lock & Home Lock
5. A way to disable beeping during RTH
And many more I can't think of right now...

Kind of great change, actually.
I like that the compass is bigger now, and that the circle representing the controller turns green when you point at the drone, however I prefer the old attitude indicator, because this green level thing is very hard to see in the sun.

Hi Yaros,

But you can choose the old style radar display in the 1.6.8.

In the previous FlyApp only the blue/green triangle turns green pointing at the drone.
In this version the dot and triangle colours green.
So imo more green so better visible than the old display

Im flying around some hill lately and I find that the wind can change direction as the hill funnels the wind around it,  so its nice to see.

  ohh, i just added some lines to  this picture...

So no option yet in the FlyApp, if DJI reads along, this is a proposal to add this to the app.
Life can be so simple for software engineers.....

The green streak in front of the blue arrow is the gimbal's viewing angle. It happened that when flying against the wind you could see the twist of the gimbal, it gave some idea how the drone is flying in the air. Now it's not there.

oke, now i remember    but it is/was a very unlogical to show the camera pitch down angle like this, well imo

many better options to show how much the cam is pitched down

Oh you got me,    Ive been tapping and dragging and trying everything to turn those on.

To be honest, i didnt have an issue with the "old" Fly app version, but i do like the idea that the dot turns green not just the arrow, this will help the many that didn't even realise that the pointer even changed green lol
I am a little reluctant to updating the fly app though, i am on an older Mini 2 fw for a specific reason i an do not want the app forcing me to update that before i can fly, i know they have been prone to do this in the past, spouse i can always reinstall the older version again if needs be....

Nobody is mentioning it, but when tapping on the top left corner of the radar (the circle with the triangle), the app puts  the operator in the center of the radar and the drone moves around. In some cases this can be a quite useful view.

Can I ask what HP is, that you refer to in the bottom left of the video at approximately 1:01? Do you mean the three horizontal white lines at the bottom right of the radar?

HP means Home Point. It is shown as a yellow circle with a "H" on the compass.
The 3 lines you refer to represent 'Map view' (I guess the icon is supposed to represent a paper map that is being unfolded).

I like this but for some reason mine is not accurate...i will re calibrate everything and see...could be that I am still on older 1.3 FW.

Mine was showing a larger angle to the left (prob about 50º) and only about 5º MAX to the right, so i calibrated the phone's compass and that seemed to help some

yes, compass of the device needs to be good calibrated.
But not always is device compass perfectly correct displaying the heading.

Fly 100 meters away, point RC towards Drone. Check the mis-alignment on the radar display.
Use this mismatch value rest of the flight....

Oh God no, that will play havoc with my OCD lol It would need to be right else i would have just ignore the radar altogether lol  or get it right.

There is something folks forget or do not realise and that's leaning on the car or in the car or next to railings etc, these mess with the compass of the device and will throw off the direction, certainly does for my Note 20 Ultra and previous phones, Note 9, 4 and 3...

dont understand your text, can you make screen recording ?

but drone shows up on the outer ring if its > 15 meter away from HP, or 50 or 500 meter, etc....
