Sadly they have really cut down on what they will take,  and now send you 4 miles up the road with some items like plaster board or old .....

The other local recycling centre makes you book an appointment online 2 days before you want to go.   How times have changed.

Wow, great shot DA.    You're absolutely right about a lot going on and so many details.  Something interesting is it says to use both lanes, yet one is blocked off.  

And letting their engine run the whole time I expect... Good shot.

In the queue without a doubt,  unless they have a newer car with auto-stop-start but in this weather we are having they would no doubt have the AC on and then that stop-start disables.

Over covid the other local recycling centre as we call them was causing such queues onto the road they just introduced a system when you have to book online at least 2 days in advance that you want to go and you get a 20minute window to go there and unload.

Seems like that might work better than just folks showing up randomly.  Only problem is it doesn't allow for delays in getting there due to traffic, etc.  If you get there late are you just SOL?

Ive not been in since they started the booking system,  so I don't know how strict they are being with it.

Before the system the road was regularly being blocked with cars queuing and it was a nightmare to get past,   since the new system Ive not seen one queue so Im happy.

So it sounds like the new system is working.  It's always nice when you can do things a better way.  At least  not queuing up saves people gasoline just sitting in line.

The problem with the queue was that it was back onto the main road so people who didnt want to use the centre got stuck in it too.

I think that was the only reason,  the local residents complained a lot about the road issues.

I really can't blame them.  At least now it seems they have a more workable situation that isn't causing queuing of cars.

Never had that exact one, but remember seeing similar play mats with a similar idea.

I had a google,  and there does indeed to have many different types.   I never had one but I have an odd memory of looking at one at a jumble sale.
