Built around 1825, Hollins House was originally the Manor house of industrialist Charles Walmseley.
Built on former farmland, it is now in the Marple Memorial Park, and is used as Council Offices.

Well, we have them as well but normally just one each side/corner...

That will be for rainwater, no doubt.  These are for that purpose as well.
But it is quite common here to have the soil drain from an upstairs bathroom fixed to the outside as well.

Okay, that is inside our homes. But your solution makes it easier to fix it. But maybe there is reason to fix it more often...

They used to be made of cast iron - which of course rusts over time. Nowadays they are plastic. but are often still external.

It looks in reasonable nick.

Very nice capture Mr. B.    For an almost 200 year old manor it looks very well maintained.  It sure has a lot of windows, no doubt to allow in lots of natural light.

I've never been inside, but it looks almost contemporary in appearance with some more modern buildings.
