There appears to be a new design of gimbal guard being reported as coming with the latter Mini 3 Pros.
Which guard did you get, and if you got option B when did you get the drone.

I do like the looks of gimbal guard B but mine came with A.  Bet B style will be on Aliexpress before long.

On mine the blades in A have left a little tiny mark on the camera,  but then all the drones I had have suffered this too.  I always blamed it on the fact I walk with them many miles and they are bouncing around.

Yeah, that bouncing around could be the cause.  At first, it was a real pain to get it back on but I finally got better at it.  I think I'll pick up one from Aliexpress like B if they list them.  

Replacement arrived today(12 July) with the B Gimbal guard and a small profiled cushion, its much easier to fit.

Where do you find the mfg date?
I received mine on 7/8 and got gimbal cover B.

Personally i realy dont care, i got A and it does what its ment to do.
Dont realy see the point of this poll.

I was the original poster who brought the new guard to light.  I completely failed to mention the newer design cushion.  I had that as well (but I threw it away).

Mine came with type A and at first I had tough time putting back on but now I got better but still have to be very careful.

Exactly other than the fact it probably shows your Mini 3 has a later production date compared to A photo guard. Wondering if the folks with the B photo guard have less issues with range of their drone?

I have never had any issues with A and also never used the foam that was between the camera and the body on delivery.

I got A with a cushion that I pitched, manufactured in 5/2022, and also from Amazon.

You could always dremmel the two inner lines, this would i would be inclined to do if it was a paint to put on, i hate faffing about...

The new design B should be much easier to put on, but it does not immobilize the gimbal head at all.   All it does is to prevent anything else touching it.

The original design A should be more protective for the gimbal as it prevents any movement during transportation - though you must remember to remove it before turning the drone on.

If I use the new design B, I would use the foam to immobilize the head + cover; whereas using the foam is optional for design A.   (previously used foam to ease putting the cover on, but now I find putting the cover is quite easy if I position the drone vertically; so I have stopped using the foam with design A.)

The A guard appears to mark the camera over time,  if they redesigned it already there must be a reason for it.

anyway when I use the cushion the gimbal sits very tight, so I think it is the way to use it ...

Just received my 3rd drone after the original and replacement had to be sent back to DJI due to faults.

Original drone had a manufacture date of 04/2022 and had gimbal cover A.
Replacement drone had a manufacture date of 05/2022 and had gimbal cover A.
Current replacement drone has a manufacture date of 06/2022 and has gimbal cover B.

Mine is Option B and I got my drone when the 1st batch hit New Zealand

I wonder if Dji will make the upgraded, (easier to install) Version B Gimbal cover available as an add-on accessory that can be purchased?

Mine is B, i dont like the way the gimbal is able to move so i still use the foam.

Yes it seems to defeat the purpose if it can still swing around inside.    Does the foam fit snuggly or will it fall out if youre not careful?

It cannot fall out if you are using the cover with the foam.

Its deffo snug, not gonna come out on its own. but yeah, purpose defeated to an extent, it prevents knocks  against it nut not too it, make sense? i know what i mean lol

Just saw your other post,  and I realised I didnt understand how the foam worked,  I had assumed it was inside the gimbal guard in places of the ribs that mine has.

If the foam is fitted inside the cover and is in contact with the camera body when the cover is fitted to the drone I would be careful to keep the foam clean and free of grit, especially if you have a filter fitted.

I don't have the one with the foam,  I have the original one.

Option B and my drone arrived 2 days ago from B&H. It was made 06/22

First thing to break off ,the sensor cover area

I received mine on 7/19 with a gimbal cover A. The date on the box was 2022/5, I am not sure whether its manufacturing date or packaged date.

i must have missed this thread when it first posted few weeks back.

eventually dji will have to sell these since people do lose them.
