Back in the 1960's the ornate open-air swimming pool at Park Hall Manor was open to the general public for an admission fee.
One shilling for children, and half a crown for adults.   Today, the pool is in a sad state of decay, very overgrown.
The site is surrounded by forest and completely invisible from ground level.
One for @DAFlys hidden pools series

Im not sure Id want to pay to swim there,  although I did have a paddle in the creek the other day,    amazing how many crabs were scuttling about before I stepped in.

It was quite pleasant,  I noticed a section where there is a sea wall that extends into the water so its nice and clear and not muddy like other places would be.

I was wondering if you'd had to squelch through the mud and silt to get your paddle.  Good that you found a clean spot.

Indeed,   there is really any good spots to swim from unless you go to Old Leigh.

Very nice shots Mr. B.    Got to say that pool (or pond) has seen its better days.  Probably only used by the ducks these days.

I guess the mountain fed stream must have dried up otherwise you'd think the waters would still be much clearer.  But then again after years of neglect it is easy to see why it has gotten so bad. Real shame as at one time it was quite the place to go.

Thanks for the link.  That was an interesting read.

I could do with a paddle myself.  We've reached 42 degrees Celsius in full sun and 33 degrees in the shade here today at 16h00. Even indoors it's 24 degrees. We've remained indoors for the most part as these temperatures are unknown in the UK.  (We did get to those levelss back in France, most summers)

It's certainly affecting many things.  We sheltering again today. It got to 33 degrees in the shade yesterday, and 42 degrees in full sun. We managed to keep the indoor temperature at 22 degrees which is quite comfortable. Today is already feeling hotter and it's 24 degrees indoors.

Coolest part of the house is 32c here,   the workshop which is usually the coolest place is 26.5c.  35.12c outside in the shade at the moment,      Luckily I need to spend some time in the workshop painting the new window for the MIL's greenhouse.

Don't forget the water.

I'm almost sloshing as I walk   Don't overdo things yourself, in this heat. I couldn't even summon up the enthusiasm for a dawn patrol.

Thanks to you for sharing the link.  I always like to find out a bit more about interesting places.

Heard it is supposed to be 40C today in parts of the UK. The news was also reporting 44C in Spain.  That's definitely indoor weather.   High of only 33C here today.

I don't blame you one bit.  On days like you are experiencing it is best to hibernate from the sun and heat.  Do you see any relief in the temps over the next week or so?

That's really sad to hear.  Lots of people don't believe that global warming is a real thing.  When I look back over the last 10-20 years I can sure see a huge difference in temperature, weather patterns, etc.

Latest bulletin:

Summary
The UK has hit its hottest temperature on record, with a temperature of 40.2C recorded at Heathrow in London
The previous record was 38.7C in Cambridge in July 2019
Temperatures could reach up to 42C today, forecasters say, with serious implications for people's health
The extreme heat is fuelled by climate change which is making every heatwave more intense, frequent and likely, scientists warn
Network Rail has issued a "do not travel" warning for parts of the country
The UK's first ever red warning for heat is in place across much of England, and people are being urged to stay cool and hydrated
Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany are also seeing temperatures soar, while wildfires still threaten parts of southwest France and Spain
