I searched and searched for a successful way to directly download content from both the internal MA2 memory and from the memory card to an iPad Air.  The only method I found that appeared to work was a YouTube video where the poster used a USB-3 to USB-C cable and a USB-3 to USB-C adapter together to access the files via the iPad Files app.  I don't have a simple adapter like that but got to thinking about my USB-C hub/dock.  Connected the MA2 to the hub/dock using a USB-C cable and everything shows up just like magic!  Can't verify that all hubs will work.  I'm using a CalDigit SOHO dock.  Hope this helps someone as frustrated as I was.

FYI, the files show up as two folders in the Files app.  Untitled and Untitled 1.  One is the internal memory and the other is the card.
