Had a chance to shoot a nature sequence last week, telling a story (hopefully) as opposed to what I normally do shooting mainly landscapes.
Entirely shot on the Mavic 3 including on the smaller camera using 7 X optical. Mixed results on the latter but starting to to get the idea
of what the smaller camera can and can't do.

Impressive work! Applause!
I was wondering if you could share some of your tips on capturing bird footage from a drone risk perspective.
I assume this is telecam footage, but I still get scared when so many birds are in the vicinity of my drone.

Thanks Koko, as I said on another site that requires a very long and complex response that has no "one size fits all" answer. Starting point is "do birds crash into each other?" Nope. Never. So they are only going to crash into you if it's on purpose. So what type of birds do that and what is their motivation? Birds of prey like these attack things for a living, but on this day they were WAY too focussed on their feeding frenzy caused by the fire. So birds of prey and highly territorial birds are the ones to watch...unless they're having a day off!

Great video Chris. Awesome shots and coloring! Wanted to ask you if Vimeo support HDR and if you shoot HDR, i.e. HLG 10 bit. Thanks, Mike.

Yes Mike I've been shooting HLG since it's been available on the M3. I only do that for clients though, I actually edit in Rec709. Happy with FCPX results but not DaVinci, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong in the settings.

Amazing video Chris.   Sorry to see the devastation caused by the fire.

All part of the landscape here, in fact some plants in the outback won't seed until they are burnt. This particular one wasn't great though as it is an introduced grass that burns really hot killing mature native plants.

Well, hopefully nature will prevail in the long run.

Wonderful video. So this was a controlled burn?

No a wildfire they were letting run for a while as we don’t have the resources to put them all out. In context, the Northern Territory is over twice the size of Texas but with less than 250,000 people.

I've always wanted to visit Australia and the Outback area. On my bucket list for sure.

I hear you Chris. Not sure if this is it, but I think Resolve requires a Decklink card (for Windows it does imho), but not sure about Mac... Always enjoy seeing your work here
Thanks, Mike.

Nice video, very cool opportunity to film around a wildfire without getting in the way of firefighting operations.

That one was around my home town, Alice springs, in the very center of Australia. If you do come though let me know! One thing you might want to see in our area is the world's biggest single rock, Uluru.

Yes, that is the second one I have come across this year. If nobody is fighting it, no incident controller in charge and all normal aviation factors are good it's all yours (and the birds!)

I read up a bit on Alice Springs and I understand that your town is nearly 930 miles from the nearest major cities of Darwin and Adelaide? Now that's difficult to comprehend.

yep, one of the most isolated towns in the world. Also our nearest actual "towns" as opposed to cities (3000 people) are Tennant Creek 350 miles north, and Coober Pedy 500 miles south
