Local cemetery in Ranfurly - New Zealand.

Was blowing a gale so strong I almost didn't launch but the Mini 3 Pro held it's ground. Next time I plan to do a Mosaic of this scene...

Interesting how the more elaborate gravestones are all grouped together, and the simpler ones lined up in basic rows.  In death, as in life, the notables are separate from the hoi polloi

Bit surprised you didn't use the term hoi oligoi for the notables.  

You do make a good point about the gravestone groupings.

3 years back a guy put it in his will that when he died he wanted all his possessions, except his car, sold and then he wanted to be buried with the cash and him inside the car.  Believe it or not they got permission to do that and when he died they dug a huge hole and honored his wishes.  Now I guess he just has to worry about somebody digging him up to get the money.  He never trusted banks and they said he had his mattress stuffed with large denomination bills as several walls in his house.  Quite eccentric.

I've always wondered whether it got dug up or not.  The news article that reported on this never mentioned a town name but just the state of New Mexico.  However, I bet there were enough curiosity seekers that tried to follow up on it.  

With LIDARs so prevalent now I'm sure it could be found easily but would still be a bit time consuming and is probably on private property which would be another problem itself.

That was quite the article Mr. B.  At the close of the article the council does bring up several good points.  In any case it appears he will just be leaving that treasure buried.

Just to find it would be next to impossible and then to see if anything on the drive was recoverable would be even more of a task.

Especially back in those early New Zealand pioneering days. A lot different now of course  with focus on cremations only. Does make sense, world would one day run out of land to bury people!!
