I  used to be able to just pop the SD card from my Mini 2 into my Windows  PC and retrieve the files from it. Today I discovered this is no longer  the case. Windows is unable to see the partition and access the files. I have tried it on several different Windows machines (running Windows 10 or 11) and it doesn't work on any of them.

I have an old laptop running Ubuntu and there I can open the files succesfully.

I tried many things to fix this issue:

  • Format the SD card in Windows (doesn't work, "cannot find the specified file" error)
  • Completely remove all partitions and volumes with diskpart and start over (same error)
  • Using Gparted I was able to format it the SD card to exFat (with a  gpt partition table) and make Windows read it again, however the DJI  drone does not like this and needs to format the SD card itself
  • Check if the Micro SD is set to read only, it is not.
  • Connect the DJI Mini 2 with the SD card inside to my Windows PC using a USB cable, the drive is not accessible
  • I've searched online but the "solutions" I found so far aren't helping at all (they range from "get a Mac" to the usual adware)

What changed and how do I fix this? It will be a huge hassle to transfer files to my PC like this...

Hello there. Have same issue with my Mini 2 and 128GB micro SD card used inside. I can "repair' it by setting GPT partition mapping in Windows Drives and Volumes Manager. Then it allows to set new partition on that sd card and format it normally. without GPT it appears locked from formatting (can clear it completely and remove partition via CMD Diskpart but it cannot be formatted to any file system.
After "repair" ewerything with card is okey. it works normally until inserted and formated inside my drone. Then only drone can use it.
EDIT:
I updated firmware of my mini 2 via Assistant 2 (consumer drones) to newest version V01.07.0200. That helped with sd card issue. Maybe last version was bugged or corrupted during update.

EDIT:

I had the same problem with my 128Gb SD card from my Mini 3 Pro and using an HP laptop with Window 10.  Windows would state the card needs formatting and could not read the SD card.  I found an easy solution.

Using the Microsoft CMD function and running as Administrator, I ran CHKDSK  x:  /f  /r
note x: is your card's drive letter reported by Windows, in my case it was E:

This will do the simple fast repair so then windows could read the card and then I could see the videos and pictures and copy if wanted into my laptop with Windows 10.  I do not think this is a windows problem or the card mfg.  It is something the DJI Mini 3 Pro is doing to the file config.  This simple fix works every time!!  Happy!
