Profile pic is just a photo showing a few of the planes on the carrier I was deployed with at the time. One of the pilots did take a photo showing a more inclusive group of the planes we had onboard but it turned out to be classified.

Nice! Sadly, some of those (A-6, F-14, S-3) are museum pieces nowadays.

Yeah, it is a shame about not needing those planes anymore.  The F/A-18 kind of took the place of several of them and has been a work horse ever since.  I remember the days when we had the full air wing onboard, flight deck and hangar bay would be full.

You're right but the P-3s and now the P-8s took over that mission it seems.  I always loved seeing the F-14s launch off the cats and see the afterburners in full glow, especially an amazing sight at night.

The beauty of S-3s was that they were always close to the carrier.

I saw a Tomcat at an airshow in Norfolk in the '70s, what an amazing bird!

Sad thing about the S-3s were after A-6 tankers were gone the S-3s became more tanking mission oriented than ASW.  Wish I could tell you about how well a particular S-3 did on a super long flight, it would really make you appreciate that plane.  It wasn't an ASW or tanking mission, but can't say more.

Had a really surprising evening on Friday. There's a small, private airport near our house, and I coordinate with a POC at the local flying club when I conduct operations that might affect general aviation, and I've given him a few nice pictures of their facility and their Cessna 172 (on the ground) that I took with the Mavic. Ends up he was asked to cover a concert at a local event venue, and he had a conflict, so he recommended me.

I gave the marketing person a quick quote, and just delivered a nice collection of photos and videos (at a venue that I've really been wanting to shoot) from an America concert (think of the song 'A Horse With No Name'). Quite a bit of time this weekend touching up photos and videos, but very rewarding. I'll be adding a compilation (including some of that material in the near future).

Hope your weekend was rewarding as well!

I provided individual stills and videos of the concert to the event organizers, they're putting together a 60th anniversary video for the venue. When I get a breath will make a compilation and link it here.

True. If I can catch clouds moving different directions at different altitudes, with shadows on the ground it makes also for interesting viewing.

Very nice timelapses (since they are static, it's technically not a hyperlapse)
