OM5: Shaky Footage

Hello there,

I bought an DJI OM5 a few days ago and i am having an problem with the product. All footage are very shaky, mainly in vertical movements. I already tested with 3 different smartphones with and without Mimo app and in all test the results are the same.

Hi, there. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. May I confirm If your gimbal vibrates as well?
And for the video shakes, please check the following details:
1) Has the mobile phone been mounted properly.
2) Check whether the gimbal tilt axis is close to the limit position.
* If yes, please try to recenter the gimbal during use.
3) Check whether the ActiveTrack 4.0 function was enabled during recording.
If ActiveTrack 4.0 is enabled during shooting, follow the suggestions below:
1) Adjust the pan axis to a horizontal angle to obtain the optimal follow scope and effect.
2) To use the ActiveTrack 4.0 function when shooting, we recommend enabling the ActiveTrack 4.0 function after triggering the video recording.

Hello. The gimbal does not vibrate.
1) Yes, both calibrated on the app and properly balanced mounted.
2) No, the example video was recorded with the gimbal centered.
3) The ActiveTrack was disabled.

you need to walk differently when using a stablizer. I also took shaky video in beginning. Then I searched online and found out I have to learn "ninja step" to walk while filming. It means walk with backend of your feet first. the result will be a stable video.

here is the ninja walk tutorial.

youtube search "RICH Photography gimble ninja walk". Everything works once you walk right. It takes some time to get used to it.

It also takes some time to check/adjust the phone after mounting on OM5(Do Not turn it on).

make sure phone is stable and balance on vertical(protrait) position and on landscape. Use compass app to check it.  after you are sure the mount is in place correctly, start DJI MIMO APP and turn on OM5.

What phone are you using. Try turning off the video stabilization setting.
