Searching for The B17 Bomber Crash 1944

Send the drone out over the sand banks at low tide to see if I could find any remaining wreckage of he B17 Bomber Crash of 1944.   Maybe these could be related.

I know they had collected a lot of there plane up and sent it to a museum but I did wonder if more might appear over there years from the sand.

That rounded bit does rather look like an engine cowling edge - the rest possible still buried.

That's exactly what drew me to it.    Its a large expanse of sand to search but with the drone it made light work of it.

I saw some aeroplane remains when I walked over towards Kinder a couple of weeks ago. Filmed them with the Pocket2.  I may have mentioned it.

Great shot and nice find DA.    For sure looks like a few pieces of metal in that shot.  Interesting article you provided.  Too bad you can't get out there with a metal detector.

Nice find Mr. B.    I'm really surprised that they left that many pieces lying in a field like that.  Seems like here the FAA Crash Investigation Team load everything that they can onto a truck and take it back to a large hangar and then analyze it to determine what possibly caused the crash.

Wish I could lend you mine as it doesn't get a ton of use anymore.  Great detector but the state, county and cities have placed so many restrictions on their use it's just about impossible to use them except on your own property.

I think its similar here,  most parks seem to have signs up with the list of no no's and metal detecting is usually on it.  I believe the farmers fields with permission is fair game and the beaches looking for money and rings etc.

The beaches here are mostly, but not all, detectable from the water line up to the nearest sand dune.  Detecting in the water is prohibited by the state.

Not sure if this guy died while in the rescue team for the plane, or an unrelated call-out.

It would need an all-terrain vehicle to get up there. I'm guessing they lifted the biggest parts out by helicopter.  This one was apparently just a light plane from a local airfield.

I passed one sitting in the topi of a bush the other day he was still there an hour later on my way back.

A couple of cyclist came whizzing by as I was about to take the shot, so I rushed it.

It was the Galaxy A51 ( Didn't have the pocket2 with me - an oversight).
I think I mentioned I did the updates for the Mini3 - it was the batteries.
Took less than ten minutes to do both.

There's a new software update for the Mini 3 which came out today. .0300 release.
