I think Im going to need a tow........

Over the holidays they have been teaching the young kids to sail at the local yacht club.  The kids split into groups were then towed further out in stages as they progressed.

I think that jetski was acting as a safety boat.   But its nice to see the young ones learning to sail.

Impressive shot DA.    Quite a lot of colors in the sailboats.  It really is great to see kids getting away from their TVs and smart devices and getting outdoors and even better that they are learning to sail.  There needs to be more learning events like this for kids.

    Just found out that the local marina is hosting a 2 day learn to sail class for teens over this labor day weekend.  Seeing the picture you posted motivated me to help finance the event so it would be at no cost to the teens to participate.  I just thought it would be a good way to help out some of the local kids that might eventually decide to take up sailing.

Thanks Bussty.    After many years of successful financial planning and investing I'm able to give back to the community now and just thought that would be one way to help out some teens.  I learned to sail during my early days in the Navy and thoroughly enjoyed it so I like helping others to give it a try.

The oldest kids got towed about 3-4km out and the real young ones get taken up stream 1/2km where the instructors can pretty much push the little tiny boats around,

thanks ElleKN. they had a lot of kids there over the holidays of all ages from about 6 and up.

Thanks really great - we do this in our sailing club as well, although they learn it with a different boat type, called "Optimist" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimist_(Bootsklasse))
Never the less - it is just great for them to learn to sail

Interesting,  thats the boat they were using with the youngest kids,  and some of the tutors were pushing the boats along on the shallow water giving instructions as they went.

so it is similar to our "kids program". The boats you shot are more fun to sail :-)

sounds like it,   I didnt shot the younger kids from the drone,  didnt seem quite right.
