Stageira. A city where you will find ancient Greece at every step.
Stageira is a village located at the foot of Mount Stratonikos (Strebenikos), at an altitude of approximately 500 meters, on the north-eastern side of Halkidiki. The distance from the city of Thessaloniki is 73 kilometers. They got their name from the ancient city of Stagira, which is located in a coastal position 10 kilometers further east, next to Olympiada and is the place where the philosopher and scientist Aristotle was born. (see the video from our tour here At the entrance of the village today, there is the park where the statue of Aristotle is located (See the tour inside the park in an older video here , as well as many above-ground monuments , such as towers (one from the 16th century), public baths and Madem Aga's shrine, from the Iron Age.

Such a beautiful city.    Nice to see some of the ancient remnants of early Greece.  Superb job on this video.
