The title says Goggles 2, he might have misspoke because the V2's are already backwards compatible.

yeah he misspoke since he mentioned avata i think so.  but yeah, oldest trick in the book:

"we had no plans to make them backwards compatible but since you spoke up, we change our mind and are listening to customer feedback and making it available in december."
