A short low run on the flood defence.....

With the threat of flooding yesterday the flood defenses were closed and it was a good oportunity for a short and low fly in to take a look.

Nice video!
Unfortunately YT has a bug where they don't seem to store the thumbnail.
You can correct this by selecting a different thumbnail from their list and save that.

YT only gave me one thumbnail option the rest were blacked out.

It's a group walk, not a solo one.  U3A 40th Anniversary baton relay.

DA, the first 46 seconds of the video is really interesting to see but after that point the remaining time to 3:36 is just black screen.  Was neat to the all the sailboats moored in a row, one behind the other.

They initially messed up the thumb nails too.  

I have always found these flood protections interesting. So using the Thames Barrier as an example (I walked all the way there from Putney once - big day!)  Are they designed to stop the sea encroaching on the land? I always wonder what happens to the river in those cases? Does it potentially have the ability to back up and then flood too? Must be some deft timing that goes on their operation.

They dont stop the water passing completely but they do reduce the level 1/2m roughly when they are closed.  There are gates that hinge down on this one.

All been resolved by re uploading,  but I have noticed that the processing stage is taking 10x longer than usual.

Nice company. No pubs up there - it's all wild Moorland. Nice pub at the end though when waiting for the train home.

That red triangle is a little outrow logo on the end of the video.
