Hey guys,

I put together a short video to show you what you need to re-purpose a camera strap as a lanyard for your RC Remote.

There is also a quick tip at the end to help you avoid inadvertent touches on the RC Remote too.

Thanks for watching, cheers!

Really nice . . . I use a Guitar strap, however I Iike your way of having the flexible mating of Strap and RC, mine is stiffer.

If I could offer one modification, I think the eyelets need to be movable, i.e. to be able to fold flat for packing in a case etc, it would save having to remove them and losing the washers or cut them down to cut out the need for washers.

The circle end with the cord loop just feed through and the circle then passes through the cord,  the other end fits to the strap like you'd fit the strap to the camera.  This video shows the various ways they can be used on a camera,  on eBay and Ali they are a fraction of the cost.

The peak design version has these very small screw on connectors.

The moveable eyelets suggestion is genius! I never thought of that when I went looking for parts. I didn't come across any during my search but I am sure they exist. Having it a bit more compact would be great. I does fit nicely in my Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW II though, so not a big deal for me. I slot the controller in with the front edge up, kind of like bread in a toaster if you put in in sideways. :-)

I did think about cutting the bolts a bit but I actually prefer the squish of the rubber washers. They are .25" or 6.35mm thick. I could have probably used a thinner washer but I do like the bevelled look.

I think ultimately having a folding eyelet would be the best solution to make it a bit more compact.

Cheers!

Cool.

I do have some old Canon camera straps and this solution would be perfect for that. The downside is those straps are slow to adjust but I suppose once you have it set, you won't touch it much.

My Peak Design strap was under-utilized so this was a great way to repurpose it as an RC strap. Definitely the premium option - haha!

Cheers!

Nice bag I use the Flipside 400 AWII Camo which i love and the RC stands up in there perfectly which made me think of the folding ones because using the same as you have at present, I am sure it wouldn't be able to stand up as it does now. I wonder if there is such a thing as ones where the ring can stay flat when moved into that position and stand when opened, that would be better, for me anyway, i prefer to drop it in but it wouldnt feel right if it had to drop in upside down, that's just me mind, its an OCD thing lol

Here is something for the whole job, not sure where they get the eyelets from though.

Cool! I have an older Flipside as well. It's my "lighter carry" bag.

The more compact or folding eyebolts idea would be way better than what I did.

Really the whole idea started from not wanting to buy a lanyard and re-use what I already had laying about. If I could have sourced the eyebolts locally, it would have cost nothing to do but I live in a small city and there is not much selection for odd items like that.

I too am like that, i made a 1 man kayak loader for the roofrack, its an extenable arm, i used what i had at hand (an extending arm from a lawn edge trimmer) turned out it was just too flimsy, great for loading balsa wood but bit a 15kg kayak lol, so i either need to buy a proper steel one or buy the box steel parts and try again, ya play with what ya have 1st

Yeah, for sure! Re-purposing can be a great challenge and fun too.
