I have a GoPro Hero 10 that I use with the Max lens Mod. This allows me to have a 155° FOV with the horizon level. For the use that I make of it I prefer to have the horizon blocked rather than 4k movies (2.7 k is amply enough for me). The Max Mod lens is very delicate and I had to replace it twice already because it was scratched. I would like to do wide shots with the horizontal horizon without an additional lens.
I would like to move on to Action 3 but I would like to know the maximum FOV angle that can be obtained with HorizonBalancing or (better) HorizonSteady.

Would it be possible to increase the FOV angle by decreasing the resolution? Could it be a solution implemented in next firmware?
I know that the insta360 go 2 uses low resolutions (1440p) with a FOV next to 130°

Yes it is possible. In fact it was available in a previous firmware (maybe pre-release but still in demo in some shops) as shown in this thread:

So with a firmware update DJI can change the FOV.

What has never been considered is the possibility of widening the FOV by lowering the resolution.
