Flew my Mini 2 along the river Clyde and whilst distracted by passersby I hit a tree and long story short, quadcopter lost forever. Total pilot error so purchased another from Dji at a good discount (50% off). As luck or bad flying would have it, I crashed that one too. Mini 2 flying at 50ft, tree was at 51ft or thereabouts. No way to climb tree and given its location (on the banks of Loch Lomond) practically impossible to rescue. As luck would have it, high winds caused the drone to fall and it was picked up by honest folk who contacted me and returned the drone (2 phone Nos. on drone label) to me for a suitable reward. Care refresh active this time and drone sent off to the Netherlands for replacement. Mini 2 despatched and replacement received within 6 days. So really chuffed at speed of item being replaced by Dji. I know they don't always satisfy everyone with their responses but, in my case, and I'm not a Fanboy, I have nothing but respect in my dealings with them.

I agree with Blériot53 about the positive feedback.

Honestly, I really can't speak one way or the other as far as DJI's quality of support. I've had my Mini 2 for 10 months and I've never had an issue. (And yes....I'm one of those who updates but I've never had an issue....just updated to 1.7.4 on the Fly app and iOS 16 on my iPhone).

Hi there. If you have just updated the fly app I think you will find that you are on 1.7.5 It probably read 1.7.4 on Dji download but really is 1.7.5 Check your profile details.

Cheers RDB. I did intend to revisit the scene of where I crashed the drone but the area is so popular that I had an idea if it fell out of the tree somebody would find it before me. I can only thank my lucky stars that 2 honest lads found it and telephoned me rightaway.

Use the app to check for updates.  This is where I found 1.7.5.

I have now upgraded from v1.7.4(1410-official) to v1.7.5(1010-official).

Lovely to hear a good news story for a change.

Yes, I see that. But, if you look on the fly app at profile, settings, scroll to the bottom it should read 1.7.5.  Dji are a little bit lax when updating their download page.

I also have a txt file on my SD cards called _CONTACT_INFO.txt just in case.   If I lost the drone in water the labels could get washed off but the SD card should survive and there may be content on the card I’d be happy to get back.

I used to do that DA, but then I got lazy as I tend to format my sd cards after every flight day. If I did lose a drone again the person(s) finding it might not know how to remove said card or even realise that the drone contains a card. Doing both, labelling and sd card text info is 'belt and braces' and a good idea.

Im using 256gb cards and rarely format,  when I copy footage off the card I tend to check that there's some space left on the card and just clear a junk when needed,  50gb or so at a time,  it was quite handy recently when I managed to loose some images I needed and they were still on one of the sd cards from last year.
