Spectacular pano DA.    Sky is full of puffy clouds  so good indicator of the day's weather.  Shame that the forum forces you to compress the shot in order to post it.

Well, we are off to a new week.  Here in Florida we are on the alert for Hurricane Ian.  I got to say it is not looking good for where it may make landfall.

Taking a closer look at that image reminded me of how many jet trails you get over there. Staggering by our standards.

No doubt about not looking good.  Latest from hurricane hunter plane fly through at 0500 this morning makes the trajectory path even more certain to rip across Florida.  The local Navy and Coast Guard ships are due to sortie starting at noon so I'll be heading out this afternoon and kind of shadow them to avoid the heavy winds and seas pierside.  Wish me luck.

Think I went as high as the 40D then switched to Micro 4/3 Olympus now running OMD EM-1 MK2

Started with the Canon D30 (first Canon Digital after trading in my beloved Canon EOS 5 film camera) it seems crazy saying this now but I paid $7000 NZD for that body!  That's a lot of money for a 3MP camera :-)   Paid for itself pretty quick back in those days it was over $1 a shot using slide film.

Went on a road trip with a mate about two years later he still had a film camera and he took about 15 rolls of film we worked out spent over $500 in film and processing pretty soon after that he went Digital :-)

Gosh,  yes,  I had an Olympus film camera and the foam that the mirror hits to dampen it started to disintegrate and get inside which meant terrible dust like spots.     Also as you say developing got silly expensive and often the developer I would use would wreck a print by applying a label if he thought it was wrongly exposed or something.

Oh dear that is not cricket! Was fun days can't believe how much I spent in the darkroom (closed off bathroom) as a kid processing B&W but was fun

Thanks DA.  I'm about 150 NM east of my pierside this AM.  I'm using my Starlink satellite internet service and it seems to be very stable, albeit it a bit slower than what I use while back pierside.

Well at least you’re able to stay connected even in the middle of the ocean.    Are you under way at the moment with I’m guessing an auto helm whilst you have your coffee.

I think you must have been lucky to get it,  someone took some footage of their local supermarket and it was like the C19 lockdown with empty shelves everywhere.

No doubt.  In the southeastern US any mention of a hurricane creates a mass run on the grocery stores.  First thing they run out of is bottled water followed by bread and then toilet paper.

And in his example coke was also in high demand.

Interesting as I don't remember them ever running out of Coke or Coke products.  Guess I was more worried about the stores not running out of beer.

Bill the drone reviewer made a video of his hurricane prep,   but he's not made anything since and I don't know where about in Florida he is.

I think he is somewhere down in the southern part of Florida so I'm sure he felt the effects of Hurricane Ian.

My oldest granddaughter is a school teacher in Fort Meyers and she just got cell service back via a couple of mobile set-ups they brought in.  She lives in a brick home but opted to shelter in the basement of a hotel and turns out to have been a wise decision.  She passed to my daughter that it is total devastation everywhere you look.  Electric poles and transformers all gone.  With no electric power they have no water.  Appears the entire infrastructure will have to be rebuilt.  Seems the current problem is lack of poles and equipment needed to rebuild expeditiously.  At least that is what was passed to me.
