Is the computer application "DJI Assistant" program required when updating and setting up the Avata?

I updated my new Avata firmware by plugging my goggles into my phone and using the DJI Fly app only and things seem to be working ok.
I forgot that there was a computer application (DJI Assistant) and is this needed to plug the Avata into my computer for any further updating?

Hello there Plasmo. Good day and thank you for reaching out. You may also update the firmware of your DJI Avata using the DJI Assistant 2 Consumer Drones Series ( https://www.dji.com/avata/downloads ) in the future it there are future firmware updates for the DJI Drone. Thank you.

I’ve never found a use for it and I have 3 Mavics and now Avata, I do all setup using either iPhone or iPad
