A huge shortcoming of the M2E and M30 RTK capabilities has been the lack of precisce time-stamping (DJI calls this Time Sync https://developer.dji.com/onboar ... uide-time-sync.html) for the RTK position image geolocation. This is important if one wishes to take advantage of the high-precision RTK positioning for photogrammetric mapping/surveying rather than just for navigation of the aircraft.

DJI's stance regarding why Time Sync was not included in the M30/M30T was that "this aircraft is not intended for mapping"
https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=267111

The hype and marketing for the M3E/M3T most definitely highlight mapping ("without the need for GCPs") as one of the applications for which these new aircraft are designed.
https://www.dji.com/mavic-3-enterprise

So the question is, do the M3E/M3T employ Time Sync or an equivalent that will make their RTK actually useful for mapping, or are they like the M2E & M30?

Hello, so this means with RTK enabled each captured photo can be replicated in future flights?

If you mean replicated exactly in an automated way, I don't think so. Time Sync is more about knowing exactly what you shot than doing it again exactly the same way.

But maybe there's functionality I am unaware of that does what you described.

This answer is misleading: while it is true that the Mavic 3 Enterprise Series supports time sync, precision mapping only works with the M3E. The M3T uses the RTK module only for GNSS positioning, which means it does not fully support "time sync" for the expected functionality known as "precision mapping".
(it was the similar with the M2EA)

This is an important distinction, and the reason for my original question. Thank you for bringing it to light. The M2EA, M30, and now the M3T all have RTK but no TimeSync, and thus are not capable of "precision mapping".

Hello, there. Sorry for the late response and the misleading. We confirmed with our teams again about the Precision Mapping of the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series.
Precision Mapping is supported when DJI Mavic 3E is used with RTK Module.
For DJI Mavic 3T, the mapping accuracy is not guaranteed regardless of whether there is an RTK module.

With the M3E mapping mission on a 10hectars area, flight at 75m with a gsd about 1.9cm, i had 3cm XY and 4cm Z of error using the Mavic RTK, on checkpoints. It definitely uses Time Sync

Thank you for clearing that up.
Talking about Time Sync for the M3E series:
The guy in the video (link below) using the M3M with RTK states "... as much as just making sure that where your data is accurately placed". How far is that correct then for the one 20MP RGB sensor and (at the same time(s)) for the four 5MP spectral filtered sensors? Here the link to the video:

Hello, there. Sorry for the late response. May we know do you want to know the data accuracy of Mavic 3 Multispectral or anything else?

Thank you for the response. In Ag drone mapping (photogrammetric processing) having a highly accurate geo referencing of imagery makes smaller side overlaps possible (more time and data efficient). So the question is how  accurate (RMSE) the 20 MP RGB sensor would be when used in RTK mode with or without time sync capability. Can the lower resolutiuon 5MP multispectral images somehow profit from the presumed accuracy of the 20 MP sensor? Are the 5 images taken at the exact same moment in time or (slightly) sequentiallly? They for sure should at least be quite well geometrically aligned.

The positioning accuracy under RTK mode is cm level while the positioning accuracy in non-RTK mode is m level.
Can the lower resolutiuon 5MP multispectral images somehow profit from the presumed accuracy of the 20 MP sensor?
May we confirm you are talking about positioning accuracy as well?
The images are taken nearly at the exact same time. If you would like to align RGB photos and Multispectral Photos, it requires you to set the deviation value.

Hi DJI Wanda,
does this apply to M2EA as well when used with an RTK module?
Thanks and best

I just wanted to let DJI know that it is very inconvenient that the M3T still doesn't support time sync. Taking IR pictures and not being able to get their precise position from the RTK reduces usability greatly.
- Is DJI planning to add Time Sync in the successor of the M3T?
- Is there any DJI drone with an 8-14μm wavelength IR camera featuring time sync?

Please explain your answer regarding, "...not guaranteed regardless of whether there is an RTK module..." I want to purchase the thermal version of the drone for dual purposes, thermal inspections and mapping. But what I have been learning is that mapping is not really supported due to the lack of a mechanical shutter for better focus, and the RTK is not providing time sync for precision mapping. Is it true then I need to purchase both the T and the E for thermal inspections and 2D/3D/ modeling and mapping?

You can still map with the M3T. Technically you can map/model with any drone. The M3T will just lack the precision and accuracy of the M3E. The mechanical shutter doesn't provide better focus, it eliminates the rolling shutter effect created with electronic shutters. Plus the lack of time sync RTK, the M3E main camera sensor is over twice the size of the 1/2" in the M3T etc. If you're trying to make survey grade maps then the M3E will be needed. If you're just trying to make maps that don't need cm level accuracy, then the M3T will do just fine.

Update: As Johnnokimis said below, if you do not need precision mapping and do not have requirements for high accuracy, you can use DJI Mavic 3 Thermal for modeling. Otherwise, you are advised to purchase both.

Hello, there. Thanks for your interest. DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series supports Time Sync.

I am looking for help/suggestions linking a base station to my drone.  First the sales outfit I purchased my M3T from clearly does not know the equipment they are selling as they assured me that the M3T would timesync.  I now know that it does not, but before I waste more money purchasing an M3E I would like to prove the ability to link these drones to my Carlson BRx7 base station for RTK data.  I have successfully linked the drone to my Carlson going through a Carlson data collector using a document from Carlson titled "Configuring the BRx7 as a base using local NTRIP for use with RTK capable Drones"    On the drone controller I am able to see how many satellites the BRx7 is seeing, so I know there is a connection, but I get the error "Weak signal, not using RTK"   I have tried this in a wide open field, so I have plenty of clear sky.  Do you have any suggestions to address this issue?

Which RTCM messages are broadcast?
Are the coordinates of the base station known, and with what precision?

Below is my configuration which i use with DJI drone:
1013 at 0.02Hz
1006 at 0.25Hz Base station ref
1033 at 0.25Hz (for the Rinex file if you intend to use it)
1074 at 1Hz GPS
1084 at 1Hz GLO
1094 at 1Hz GAL
1124 at 1Hz Beidou
1230 at 0.25Hz (code Phase L1 L2)

May we know if the firmware version of the remote controller, aircraft, and app are all updated to the latest?
Please confirm and tell us the version number.
