Just a thought ...

Is there a way to reset the Inspire to "factory settings" and start all over with FW updates?

This is what you typically do with a smart phone when it starts to "act up"!

No, you can not reset the platform to factory settings.
You can however :
  1) Reset user settings in the DJI GO app ( see reply from mixhaven)
  2) If you installed latest FW version 1.3.0.0 you can set if back to its previous version 1.2.1.6

Yes but how.  I tried lots of ideas with no success.

1) Format SD card and  download previous firmware 1.2.1.06
2)Make sure that RC is powered off.
3) Insert SD card in camera and power on Inspire.

Your craft will be rolled back.

No need to roll back RC
No need to go back to DJI Pilot app. DJI GO will do just fine

Maybe the descriptions in the release notes are somewhat confusing.
1. Added option to downgrade the aircraft firmware.

Don't look for any option in the app, as it does not exist there.
I made the tests as described above, and rolled back to 1.2.1.06 with success.
Then after some tests to see if that worked, i upgraded again to 1.3.0.0 with success.

Hope this helps

Thanks Dundee I was able to roll back the Inspire.   I wonder about the compatibility with the RC being at a different revision level.  I had DJI tech support on the phone and they just said you cant roll back the RC at this time and then hung up the call.  I guess you only get one questions per call with that support line.

You will see NO updating  when you try rolling back the RC.
In the SIM all works perfect with only the craft rolled back.

I'm not sure what you are trying to reset, are you trying to roll back the firmware to an older version? What the problem are you having? The more details you give of the problem the easier it is to help you.
This is a very old "Inspire" thread if you can't find a solution here, scroll up to the top of the page and click on "Mavic".
