Wellington Dam is located in Wellington National Park, near Collie WA, and is a 2-megawatt single-turbine hydroelectric power station.
Wellington Dam has the second largest surface water catchment in Western Australia. Although the water isn't safe for drinking, it is used mostly for irrigation and is managed by Harvey Water.
A giant mural painted across the surface of the dam, by artist Guido Van Helten, is the largest dam mural in the world.
Beautiful landscape views. I remember the mural from the single shot. It still amazes me that somebody was able to produce such fantastic results in such a challenging location. Hopefully, the mural will last many, many years for everybody to enjoy.
