We have so many projects underway. Two freeway wxpensions, extra lane to existing freeways and 3 or 4 new rail lines.

Great to see such progress. The transport infrastructure here is crumbling after decades of under-funding.

That is quite the infrastructure expansion.  Nicely documented ReproRetro.

Our train system is great here. They are at 15 minute intervals day and night, decreasing to as low as 5 minutes in peak periods, and the cost is very reasonable. One "ticket" allows you to travel on any bus or train for 2+ hours, and there is a $5 cap on the cost, for up to 9 "zones" (a long way), or $10 for all day unlimited.

Public transport in the UK is, frankly, an embarrassment.

Me too. Busses and trains, but not the ferry.
Busses and trains are free for everyone in Perth CPD, you pay only outside

That's fantastic. Our passes are valid for local bus services throughout England at non-peak times. (Basically, after 09h30).
For train travel we have to buy a Seniors railcard to get 30% off standard fares.
