Can’t you just use the Timelapse mode for that? You can set intervals at 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10… and longer seconds. You can take jpegs and raw photos, too along with the video. Sure, the video would be a “byproduct” but you can always delete it and just keep the photos. You can specify an infinite duration or choose a preset length.
DJI could add maybe 2 extra options to Video, Video+JPEG, Video+RAW, as JPEG or RAW only (without the video).
Although that method came up when I was researching the issue, I have tested it by recording a timelapse video in 3 second intervals, and no folder with the pictures was to be found of the SD card. I could also take the video and use one of those apps that create stills from it, but both methods would be a long winded way of achieving something that was native to the camera, not long ago.
