An English Lock........

Taken on one of the legs of my recent Canal/river walk.   SHMBO'd thought the drone had upset a horse,  but it turned out he was just calling for his donkey friend.

Lovely shot.  The lock is virtually hidden by the bridge.
There are a few like that around here.

Do the locks near you have the date the wooden bits engraved with the year they were fitted.

I've not paid that close attention.  They do have metal plates attached with the lock number.

I didnt know they were there,  it was only when I was photographing a boat and standing next to one which I hadnt seen when the river warden approached and asked if Id got a shot of it.    I didnt like to tell him the camera with IR.
