First flight with the Avata with Controller 2 and Goggle V2. Got this sent to test yesterday and knew nothing about it till I questioned the box that got delivered. So, in short it really is quite a good drone and addition to my gear…..But only in manual mode if you live in the UK where it likes to be windy on most days. Sorted everything out, updated it all and the Goggle V2 refused to bind....Eventually sorted that issue out and was ready to go. A word of warning though....This is the drone only package and the dinky battery charger that comes with the drone is useless, to say the least. It took an age to charge the 2 batteries that came with it but I have a 65w charger on the way to cancel that inconvenience out. Out to Clumber Park on a breezy day to test it out in a nice wooded clearing. Took off in Normal, to see how it flew and hated it. Switched to Sport mode to see how it flew and hated it. What's the reason - The automatic banking is terrible and gives too much banking on even a slight turn on the sticks. Switched straight to manual mode and this is the result. I set the camera to 15, ISO to 100 with Shutter at 1/200 (no ND filters fitted). It's solid, stable and I had no issues either flying it low or through gaps and through the trees. The signal was also solid throughout and the battery was only at 68% remaining on landing. As a guide, my traditonal cinewhoop would have given me very similar flight time but the battery would have been landed at 22.4v on 6s and need charging. If we take this flight and then this flight again, I'm getting double the flight time with the Avata with more or less the same result in terms of image. What I didn't realise was that I had forgot to switch the recording to the inserted memory card!!! Not a problem, due to the onboard storage. Plugged the drone in, dragged the files off and there's the problem gone. I was a sceptic about this drone before today, due to all the reported issues and the falling out of the sky, the flight problems and such like. I'm certainly happy to have been chosen to test this drone and now I've fown it......bring on more locations and challenges. Big question though - Would I fly this instead of my Cinelog35 ?.....In terms of flight time - Yes. In terms of flight feel - It's on a par with it. The ability to carry a 3rd party camera - Cinelog35 would win. The main test will be inside my local abandoned site and the multi-storey car park. After testing it in both environments, I will know whether to just use this -

Interesting info. If it were below 250 g I'd buy it. How do yolk the range/transmission compared to DJI @700 or 1200 mW?

Nice flying,  how do you rate the noise it makes,   I heard one on a video the other day and it sounded horrendous.

Doesn't sound any different to any other Cinewhoop really. They all scream in flight and certainly not louder than the iFlight MegaBee. That thing used to send cats into spasm

Was it's 1st flight really so just seeing what she can do in regards to low level and through trees etc. Got the FPV and my traditional kwads for that kind of flying/footage. Can see why you expected it though bud.

Altered the rates to how I normally fly cinewhoops as quite high/twitchy out the box. It ain't being freestyled so got to get the flow rates nice and smooth.

It's on it's way buddy. A lot better and gives a true picture of the spot and the flight in general. Really liking it and it's quite windy today. Quite sheltered under the trees though, so more a stiff breeze blowing through. It will take a while for YT to process the hd once it's uploaded though. Will bang it on here once it's ready.

I hope the weather cooperates for you this weekend.  We've had plenty of rain and winds in my area, which is not normal for this time of year.

Zero wind today but set to change. Saturday looks to be good, so going abandoned grafitti abandoned flying. Sunday looks to be pants in Yorkshire this weekend though so off to see Black Adam.
