Shooting through the mist......

What can I say,  after the terrible Mini2 shot of the train for @Montfrooij I felt it was only right to have the Mini 3 recreate the shot to see the difference.  


And what a difference.

When I edited the shot to bring up the sky I lost some of that mist.    It was much thicker than it looks.

Those damn cows got up and came and crowded around me,   They just stood and started at me.   I had to leave for a bit to land as I didn’t know how they would take it.

I like it a lot!

Was it near feeding time perhaps?  Maybe they confused you with the farmer and thought, yep time to see what he has brought for us to eat.

Too dark to read its name really.  I could tell it wasn’t the cancer train as that’s gold and the pride train hasn’t been seen for a while.

I figured that much but we used to supplement a grass diet with a grain diet.  The grains always brought the cows to the location where we would put it down.  Maybe you are just a cow magnet.

Yes. We're about one third the distance between Manchester and Sheffield.
Extra rush-hour trains run from here into Manchester, not the full journey.
They turn around and go back to Manchester Piccadilly.

That used to carry the branch line to Hayfield (axed by Mr. Beeching) The route of the former line is now part of the Sett Valley Trail.  At one point, you pass the other end of the tunnel. It's fenced off, of course. But at one angle you can see right through to glimpse daylight at the other end.

The only supplement Ive seen them getting is the tubs of lick,   but thats not to say I just miss it.  I did managed to film a calf drinking milk from the mother the other day though.  Never seen that before either.

Calves definitely need the cow's milk as it helps strengthen their immune system.

Well the calf wasn’t very small but the milk was so thick although he was spilling a fair bit.

He is way too big to be nursing.  She must be a patient old cow.

She just stood in the middle of the path and didnt move as I approached,    didnt realise at first what was happening,   but I agree,  the calf seems to big for sure.

Some calves are slow to get off of nursing, but that one is was too big.
