Ive been asked twice to photograph weddings but I’ve always refused. Far too stressful for my taste.

I don't blame you.  Not usually an opportunity for redos during weddings.  I remember speaking with a wedding photographer and he was telling me how many spare batteries, SD cards, lens and even spare cameras he carries with him to maintain an emergency backup.  

He is one of my favorite cinematogratubers

Exactly,    I can just imagine getting sued if you dont get the shots.

In this litigious society it is so easy to get sued over anything.  No doubt if you ruined a wedding over missed shot you'd get sued.  Not that they'd win for sure but just the fact you get sued and have to spend the time and effort to defend yourself is a hassle.

Exactly my thinking.

Just had an email from DJI,  they are replacing the dial rotation shaft,  free of charge.   It will be interesting to see if they repair it and return it or I get a refurb unit.

The dial rotation shaft must have wore out from all that flying you did.  I've had great luck getting back new gear from DJI vice refurbs.  Hopefully, you'll get a new RC.

Its been shipped this morning so I will see in a few days if they repaired it or replaced it.   I took a photo of the serial label before shipping it

I bet the odds of getting your original RC back are slim. Stateside they usually send out a refurb and if none available they send out a new one.  Just getting a replacement back will be nice though as it sure beats having to use the RC N1 and a mobile device.

In both the email and the phone call they said its being repaired but in the shipping confirmation the serial number was different to mine.   It's finally been picked up from DJI last night and then missed the plane this morning in Germany.  I do hate UPS.

Dang, that's sad news.  I much prefer Fedex over DHL and UPS.  Hopefully, you'll have the RC back soon.

It arrived this morning,   even though the shipping didnt show it leaving the depot.  I do hate UPS but Im happy I have a new remote.

Woohoo, that's super great news.  Now time to charge it up and update the firmware and pair it to the drone and go fly - weather permitting of course.

All updates installed,   Settings tweaked to my liking and it’s on charge ready for a test later.

I did notice that a lot of the settings changed when updated to 1.7.8.

Very true about needing to set up from scratch on a new RC.  However, this is the first major update that reverted a lot of the Fly App settings on me.  Good thing I knew all the settings and had also documented them in case I had a brain fart one day.

Ahh on IOS the update didn’t change the settings at all.   It’s nice having the RC back. But none of the bugs that frustrate me are fixed. Sadly.

I guess they weren't included in the catch all (minor bug fixes).  Sometimes I wonder about competency of the DJI software development team.

True, but the smartcontroller, RC and RC Pro are all based on Android so there will probably always be a few inconsistencies between the two OS.

I wasn't see the mismatch previously or maybe I wasn't really paying enough attention to notice it.
