This poll is likely to receive limited response because one would need a Mini 3, both controllers, & have conducted actual range tests with both.  The consensus of the DJI RC/RC-N1 tests I have seen online appears to indicate both achieve similar performance.

Maybe she's talking about something completely different...?

From my experience having used both RC and RC N1 I tend to get a bit better range and connectivity with the RC N1.  Not sure if RC having internal antennas has a slight negative effect or not.  Also, with the RC you have to keep a more perfect aim at the drone than you do with the RC N1.  Just my personal results as others may see different results.

I couldnt vote as there is no 3rd option (they are the same)

Made no difference when i tested it over urban, both came in at 1.1km / 1.2km (CE) but with the DJ RC, i turned the drone round and went in reverse and managed another 300m, you don't have to turn it round mind, you can fly it very slowly and still get that extra distance, but I'm talking under about 1 or 2m/s, going in reverse will get you there faster so if the battery is limited, reverse is your best shot.

FYI, i have tested there DJI RC in a rural setting and hit 5.5km (CE), i could have gone further but the battery was down to my safety cutoff 65%, but got back with 24% so there's a little wiggle room, i did not test the N1 RC and to be honest, i doubt if it will be any different. I reckon it could go 6km on the battery as long as its a calm day. I have not tested FCC yet and probably will not bother until i can get a Plus battery.

Another FYI, with the Mini 2 in CE i could only manage 4.89km, but FCC hit 5.5km, I turned back at 66% and back to HP with about 11% battery.
I mentioned this just to show how much better the Mini 3 Pro is and with the DJI RC (screened RC), If you keep the RC and Drone in LOS, i mean nothing in the way, i.e. trees, buildings etc and keep the top of the RC (where the antennas are) 100% pointed at the drone, you will not be disappointed!
