Splendid shot DA.      

In the bottom of the image I see two items crossing the road.  Is it safe to assume those are cattle guards?

We call them cattle grids.   They stop the cattle leaving the fields.

Cattle guards in US and cattle grids in UK.  Pretty close in terminology.  We had 3 of those on the farm.  I used to have to clean them out once in a while as dirt would wash in and fill them up after many heavy rains.  Was cleaning one out one day and found a momma rattlesnake and 4 babies.  Got my attention real quick.

Good old road planning .
Next door had a cow that managed to negotiate the cattle grid. You'd be standing there and all of a sudden up she'd come to check what was going on.
