This ancient castle has slowly been encroached upon by Nature, which is currently showing its Autumnal glory.

Cool place. Much better seen from the air as it's really hard to get a ground shot. Did you use POI or spotlight?

Looks good and nice view of hard to see river or moat(?)  Must have been great in its day.

Thanks RDB. There is some attempt to preserve what's left - and these ruins are accessible to the public, unlike some.

It's an open log fireplace and it's not that uncommon when there is really strong driving rain for some coke like material or rain to make it down.    It's not even straight which is always good for a laugh.

We had one like that originally, but we soon put in an enclosed woodburner. The chimney liner cost about as much as the stove.

We get free wood from the local tree surgeon and we often get stuff that he cant sell as logs as its too big for a log burner so it works well for us.  If I was buying fuel I would probably do the same.

22 years here but its not needed the heating will get the room walk enough without it,  but quite often its enough to just burn a little and not use the heating.

That's excellent news.  Too many old building are being just left to return to nature.  I know we can't preserve everything but we should be trying a bit harder.  Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.

We've not had ours on this year yet.  The conservatory is doing a good job at keeping the house around 21c.

I SAW what you did there. The full set   21 degrees here just now, in the Loire Valley.

It looks like a great place to explore. with all the ruins and land scape shots .  the colors and grass patterns . Beautiful place.
