Morning everyone,

Newbie here.
Some photos taken over the weekend have purple fringing around highlight areas and also in other random areas of the photos.
Is this to be expected and/or is there a way to remove this, or is it an issue with the camera?

I can upload the raw DNG files if someone can tell me how.

Thanks for the help

Hi, TPNewbie. Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the inconvenience. Please follow the steps below to isolate the issue:

●  Use Adobe PS CS6 or a newer version to open the
picture and check if it is normal. If this way works, it means the issue is caused by the compatibility of the software. Kindly use another image viewer.

●  If there are some spots on DNG but it looks
normal on JPG, please download DNG cleaner from https://www.dji.com/downloads/softwares/other-dji-dng-cleaner and convert the picture to see if the issue can be fixed.

Here are some threads that may help you with viewing and converting the DNG files:
1. https://forum.dji.com/thread-261768-1-1.html
2. https://forum.dji.com/thread-263475-1-1.html

●  If the issue persists with different photos and flight environments,  I'm afraid that you may consider sending the unit in for a proper diagnosis. You can contact our support team to start up a ticket at https://www.dji.com/support. Also, the warranty can be applied depending on the outcome of the damage assessment including the warranty period of your unit. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have opened them in the latest version of photoshop and still the same strange purple colours.
I couldn't get the cleaner to work.
Any other suggestions:

It is called purple fringing and is common in DNG files.
The worse the lens , the worse the purple fringing.
Most DNG editors have a setting to make it (somewhat) go away.
It will be visible the most on sharp contrasty edges (white to black) and is caused by misalignment of certain parts of the light spectrum on the sensor because the lens fails to focus all colors on the same exact location.
If you take the same shot in jpeg, it should be gone (as the jpeg engine will correct for this).
