Divided by the Canal.
It is clear to see this used to be a bigger site with the remaining old buildings removed.
I will try to find a picture of the old buildings I should have laying around.

Here it is in January 2009

As you can see, there were some very nice old buildings. But they were probably also very unpractical for anything other than a paper factory.

This large building with the round roof was the raw material shed.
They had 2 cranes in there that could unload ships.
There also used to be a railway connection.
Here it was in 1961

Great shots.   That was quite the industrial complex in it's heyday.  So many bricks that could have been re-purposed.

Wow, indeed that was quite the large business.  With rail and ship connections they must have been extremely productive.

So from this massive complex to nothing left but nature now.  That is a large transformation.

They were once considered the most efficient paper factory, but it is said (not sure if that is true) that Store wanted to close it because it took away too much work from their Scandinavian plants.

Well, there are big warehouses now. The white buildings you see on the first shot.
The sandy part is not developed yet, but will be in the future.

Well, some trees you see are just small trees (behind the canal). And I'm sure some of the bigger ones will still be there today. And the canal of course.
But not from the old factory.

Interesting info you provided.  Not a lot of paper factories exist anymore in the US due to all the stringent EPA regulations.  

I saw on the internet where Stora Enso in Finland is one of the top 10 paper mills in the world.  That's quite the accomplishment.
