Perhaps overkill, i just want maximum penetration.

You will get maximum signal while out in front of you while flying but sides and rear will suffer due to patch antenna's being linear and not omni-directional.

yea i figured that much, just wanted to get max range and those top ones have somewhat of a fitting that easily allows to be moved like a swivel

Never actually used patches in almost 7yrs flying fpv. I’m into the science of antennas though. My general flying style is almost always omnidirectional anyways and don’t really do LR.

What do you think about this antenna add-on at Aliexpress?

I've already posted it in another thread but got almost no responses.

For both the DJI FPV and Avata, I use TrueRC Duality 2.4/5.8GHZ Stubbies.

I started with stubbies on my fpv drone, now narrowed down to truerc x2 air w/ omni singularities. did some testing today with different config since avata only uses 5.8 narrows down to a large assortment of aftermarket anttennas, curious about that yagi on the goggles, I tried on the controller, nothing conclusive no straight clear evidence

Flying today with the new setup just took off the axii and used the truerc airx2 and singularity stubbies

Same here and they have been nothing but faultless in range and penetration. Got these as soon as I got the FPV Drone and work just as well with the Avata

Yea love the combo I think I collected and still have an enormous amount of setups lol I want to fly low and fast but dangerous until they fix rthis tumble issue

what orientation u have ur antennas setup? I find patch on rx stubbies on tx works the best in the video its stubbies on bottom patch on top

The goggle 2 is not backwards compatible

Either 4x Stubbies for tradional kwads and 4x Duality for Avata and FPV Drone. Works faultless. I have never used patch antennas.

I'm not an expert by no means, however, I don't see how those can work. I guess the theory is it grabs the signal and points it in the direction better, but I really don't see that working. I hope someone with more experience can comment on this though. But to me, unless otherwise shown how it works, it just seems like a waste of money.

It’s very rare that I fly over 5m high with the Avata. The tumble issue isn’t there unless you try and be too aggressive on the sticks. I spend most of my time under 1m and it’s been nothing short of stunning. Fly it like a cinewhoop and not a freestyler and you will be fine. It’s just like the FPV Drone where people expect it to operate like a traditional kwad and it won’t. I fly both and love them. Both have a place and use, I just learned and accepted both their limitations. Had zero issues with either of them.
