Yesterday I was flying my Avata like any other time. It had around 70% battery when I stopped it and put it into normal mode (because a dog was chasing it) when all of a sudden I got the "Battery too low. Landing..." and the drone autolanded instantly. Luclily the dog was not hurt by the props, the drone is fine and I was over land and not water.

Mark the battery as bad and RMA it. Cannot handle the necessary current for the motors.

Yeah, that sounds like a defective battery.  DJI needs to replace that under warranty.  

I'm no expert but I'm not sure if it's a battery issue or a software problem. Approx 15 minutes after the "incident" I turned the drone back on and I was flying on that batter for few more minutes without any issues. Today I charged the batteries again and I was able to fly till 15% without any issues.

To me it felt more like a glitch because as you can see from the screen shots the battery indicator jumped from 72 to 0 and then back to 72 in a matter of 3 seconds.

The connection might not fit properly.

I just had the exact thing happen and almost lost drone.

Yeah, exactly the same issue as mine. Were you able to somehow control the drone since I see it was moving around? Mine was only a few meters above the ground so I had not much time to react.

Did you have the notification after updating that the battery firmware needs to be updated?

I have seen several reports from others, and they said they had similar problems when flying in lower temperatures....

In my case it was not that cold, it was around 15 degrees outside if I remember correctly. But it's true that it was very humid because of fog.
