hi,
coming from AIR 2S never had issues manually selecting targets drawing a box ( on a churc on a house etc... ) to be used with Spotlight.
Yesterday with my brand new Mavic 3 Classic, i had a very hard time selecting objects, on screen message saying the object was moving ( a church? ).
We had 3 brand new M3 Classic and every drone was showing the problem.

I think some updates are needed, spotlight is not working as it should.

Hi there, brusa69. Thank you for reaching out and apologies for any inconvenience caused. To enter ActiveTrack, please follow these steps:
1. Drag a box around the target.
2. Enable “Subject Scanning." The aircraft will automatically scan the target, and a green "+" icon will be displayed on the screen. Tap the "+" icon to select the target.
3. After the subject is selected, three options including; Follow, Spotlight, and Circle, will be shown.
Additionally, please note that ActiveTrack is not available when the resolution is 5.1K.
If the abovementioned instructions are followed, and Spotlight cannot be activated still, we highly recommend that you refresh the firmware of the drone and the remote controller. To refresh/update, please use the DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) software.
Here's how to do the "Firmware Refresh":
1. On your computer, download DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) through this link: {https://www.dji.com/mavic-3-classic/downloads}.
2. Power on the RC and the aircraft (one at a time) and connect it to the computer with the USB cable.
3. Launch DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series). After the DJI Assistant 2 identifies the aircraft/remote controller, click the connected device name icon.
3. Select "Firmware Update" from the left-hand side and choose the option to "Update" or "Refresh", whichever is available.
Once done, please restart the devices. If possible, kindly do a test flight and try to activate Spotlight once more.

Spotlight is working but object selection ( automatic selection is off ) is less sensitive in my opinion.
For example i had to try several times changing position before being able to select a church...
After drawing the box, the object seems correctly selected, but then is lost with a message saying to check the pattern or if the object was moving (not the case) .

We had 3 new M3C and every of them had the same issues ( latest FW both M3C and DJI RC )

I think your tech dept should be able to recreate this issue easily just trying to use spotlight.

Lately i have read of many failures using DJI Assistant ( not able to take off code 30064 ) with many models including Mavic 3, eg

Can you confirm this problem is fully resolved now and we can safely use Assistant 2.1.13 with M3 Classic

Hi,
Juan to add to the thread before, that yesterday, I also experienced the same issue whit mavic 3 and my friend too.
The issue came up even with a very big subject, I was not able to use the Spotlight and the POI features.

Thanks for your confirmation Marco,
@DJI Tony are you aware of any limitation on C1 Mark regarding Spotlight?
Active track has a max distance of 50mt, but the messages is not complaining about distance.
All the objects tested were static, in good contrast and well lightned, this looks like a bug...
Please investigate... i will try againg after refreshing the firmware and let you know

as you can see the problem is NOT solved :



At this point i urge you involve some tech specialist, Mavic 3 Classic Spotlight and POI is not working
as you can see the farms were close an lighting was good. And as you can see even when M3C is able to acquire the target , the target is not consistent... I think we need a fixed firmware ( i don't think it is the app because friends with mini 3 pro had no such problems ). And i repeat we had 3 M3C on the field with the same issues.

Take Off : Nov 27 13:39:16 CET - 27m flight
Take Off : Nov 27 14:05:02 CET - 22m flight

I WAS USING D-LOGM in AUTO....  ( video had colors assistant ON )
since DLOG-M has low contrast could it be causing this issue?
Not tested with NORMAL color profile yet.

I was trying the spot feature on my new M# classic after I finally figure out how to get it to work and it worked once on a subject but tried again on other smaller subject and it would not lock on with many tries, maybe the above is a issue.  I need to do more flight tests and this is a nice feature to have and use.

Good evening, I am the owner of 5 DJI drones and I was intending to buy 2 Mavic 3 classic for landscape shots, but given the big active track problem that after 10 meters and not 50 as you said, it definitely loses the subject with the latest update I will not buy because it is a major limitation of the drone for filming seeing what it costs, here in the forum everyone has the same problem and it seems to me that DJI urgently solves this problem, I am also the owner of a Mavic Mini3 Pro which has the same problem which is a drone under 250 gr. and therefore I understand even less your policy of continuous limitations, your drones are fabulous, but just as expensive and when a person spends 2500 euros for a drone he demands that everything works properly, I await a prompt resolution from you and I will continue ' to always buy Mavic, otherwise you will opt for other brands .... be careful because other users will also abandon you.

I still have constant problems locking on to objects after this firmware update.   It's not fixed, but I don't know if it's improved.

I have noticed this with the m3 classic and Mavic 3.  I found by getting closer to the subject and pointing my gimbal downward by being nearly over it and selecting is the only way to get reliable locks. I lock on really close up and above and then back up and use poi or spotlight etc.  Shouldn’t have to be that way.  I think pointing the gimbal down helps it determine its actual GPS position instead of trying to figure out the location by distance and angle.  Moral of the story, lock on close up and above, back up and try it.

I can say after some testing, that at current firmware Spotlight and POI are working as expected,
maybe try to open to F2.8 if light is poor.
