Is there a special cable required for HDMI from the controler? I looked on ebay and there is ipad to HDMI cables and there is also Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter.

If using an iPad, all you will need is the supplied(from your iPad) Lighting/USB charging cable.  There is a USB port on the remote specifically for this.  If you are talking about outputting HDMI to a second iPad, then I suppose a Lightning>HDMI cable will work as well, but I'm not 100% sure what the deal is with outputting two signals at the same time, especially when the second is another iPad.  My inclination that it should work fine, but someone like Tahoe_Ed could better speak to that.

Thanks, yes just one screen. I have always used a samsung mobile for my phantom so didnt understand how the ipad would work. I have just ordered an Air 2 to use just for the Inspire

On the same subject (sort of). I would like to record HD (not 4K) streaming from the craft. Does anyone have a portable DVR they would recommend with an HDMI input.

I use the Atomos Ninja Blade for my HDMI streaming video recording.  You will have 720p.  I have mine with a 1tb hard drive and a 120gb SSD.  Both work well.  It is not cheap but the quality is superb.

USB to Lightning Cable will work the same as the HDMI conversion 720P / 60f is the best you going to get
