"Golden Hour" flyover of the Beta Hunt Mine, a nickel and gold mine near Kambalda in "the Goldfields" of Western Australia. It's situated beside a large salt lake called Lake Lefroy.
The mine opened in 1976, initially to mine nickel, producing 153,500 tonnes of the metal, but then was largely idle from 2008 until it was bought by Salt Lake Mining in 2013 when it resumed nickel mining. But in 2018 during routine blasting 500 metres (1,600 ft) underground, a large deposit of gold-bearing quartz rock was discovered. The mine has since been producing small quantities of gold.
