How do you sync timecode on the Action 3? I have a Deity TC-1 and when I plug the cable into a 3.5 to USB-C cable (which works with a mic) the camera says "Failed to Sync" what needs to be done to make this work?

Hi there, KerryG. Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the trouble.

First, connect the time code synchronizer to the USB-C port. Common time code synchronizers: Tentacle SYNC MKII OR EASYNC series. The Timecode sync device will connect with your phone through Bluetooth.

Timecode will be written into the sync device. After that, find "Timecode" in the system settings on your Osmo ACtion 3.

Connect the sync device to your camera and wait for the synchronization process to complete.

Next, identical resolution and FPS should be set as on other cameras then go back to the "Timecode" in system settings then attach the sync device to the camera and wait for it to process the synchronization then please check if the Osmo Action 3 will now be synchronized.

If the issue persists, please send us a video showing how you set up the Timecode on your device and also the error for us to check. Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Hi KerryG,we do find some cables cannot handle the signal well.

Hi. I'd like to use a female adapter rather than male. any idea if this one has been tested / works? same company as your sanctioned male option:
Saramonic SR-C2003 3.5mm TRS(female)Jack to USB Type-C(Male)Audio Adapter

I already have loads of BNC to 3.5mm (TS and TRS) cables, so a female adapter would be preferable. I don't use tentacle. I use timecode systems sync boxes all with din 2/3 connectors or USB. or I use the output from my timecode slates (BNC) to jam random devices. alternatively i could add a female to female coupler to your suggestion and use my cables...but not sure the pinout of the adapters...there seems to be problems getting various optinos to work, and saramonic doesn't offer any pinout details. do you have any pinout specs for me?

It would be great to have some other cable options. Options above are geared towards to specific products on the market. The majority of timecode products use BNC connections. Having some kind of breakout cable that ends up in a BNC would be far more useful.
