I tend to run old versions of the app, especially when flying my Mavic Mini, I don't want the hassle of decrypting their .txt logs. But occasionally I would like to see what the newer versions offer. I use android so I can reinstal old versions if I so chose. ...... BUT I am wary of trying a newer version ..... just incase it FORCES a firmware update on the drone or controller .... hence my questions.
I think I have 1.5.4 on a phone that is used with the FPV but if so that's my most recent version.

None of the the fly app updates force a firmware update,  but if you opt to take the firmware update you may not be able to go back to an older app version.  

Yep I got caught by that 'knife in the back' with the FPV, which is why I am wary, lol
