Finally, offline maps!

That was a veritable bane of my M3 experience since I don't own an Android phone and connecting my iPhone to RC Pro was always too much of a hassle (and I'm still not sure if it even works).

Now we can download small map sections in advance and enjoy them later.
Downloadable maplets are fairly small, I'd say about 2 miles E/W by 1 mile N/S, so it requires pretty precise planning, but it's definitely better than nothing.


I have downloaded the ones I use on a regular basis, and hopefully will be able to check the functionality over the weekend.

Now, SDK, please?

I know it does not.
But it should.
It's embarrassing, really.
Please let the Product team know SDK is #1 feature request.

The downloadable map sections are not as small as you describe.  
It depends on which map section you are currently seeing on the display, which is then saved on the SD card...

I don't have an SD card anywhere in the system...

But, the map to be downloaded  is the one you see at the display ( you can see a full nation / state this way )
or ONLY the part in the small rectangle you will be able to see after zooming a lot?
If only the rectangle the area cannot be too big from what i've seen...

My understanding is that is of the small rectangle, otherwise what would be its purpose. I can be wrong of course. DJI, care to advise?

I fly M3Cine with RC Pro. While I *can* use SD cards for either, I chose not to.

Am I doing something wrong?  The map thats saved is about the size of a small block.  When you select a large area, it only downloads a small fraction of it, and how it picks what section is random.  @DJI why can't the size of the map be adjusted?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just the way it is.
As I said in my OP, for me it saves about 1x2 square miles per map.
Which is fine if you want to observe the VLOS rule and actually plan your mission to a "t".
You don't want to save the details for the entire continental US since you will just waste time/space.
For me, saving 3-4 "blocks" cover my standard shooting grounds. Even if I was living in a more "target-rich" environment, a dozen or two would do the job anyway. And if I go somewhere else - well, I would know that I need to plan it if I want to enjoy the details.
Basically, everything comes at a cost.

The current solution is actually almost useless...

I still use the hotspot via my smartphone...
