Do a search for youtube guides for drone day to night shots. They will show you how to match up shots using waypoints using video or hyperlapse.

... of course that wasn't a hyperlapse shot, it should make it clear that the new functionality of the M3 really delivers "useful" results, hence the many transitions (day - night - day - night - ...).
