This is a small uncontrolled private strip near my home, no clearance is required since it's Class G airspace. I've been flying here for a couple of years with the airport owner's permission and in coordination with the local flying club. I also have a small receiver that I use to monitor the UNICOM channel to keep an eye (err, ear) on nearby manned aircraft.

They make big NFZs even around smaller airports.

Before we moved to the Shenandoah Valley, we were just outside of Washington DC. Couldn't even launch because we were inside the no-fly zone there, virtually all of my flights have been out here in the mountains.

It's tough when you have to dodge NFZs.

Had a great weekend.  Took the middle grandson to the gokart track so he could race his fairly new gokart.  It's quite the beast and I'm sure my son paid dearly for it but those two are both heavily into racing.  Here's a shot of his gokart.

Thank you! Thanks for picking up those elements, I knew that the trees would capture well but didn't realize when I launched that the sun was shining against Great North Mountain. That was an unexpected bonus, and reiterates that it's still timing, timing, timing! Hope your year is going great!
